Skyloom aimed to recapture dance once practiced in churches in the past.<\/p><p>An intergenerational group, they welcomed people of all ages and faiths, and encouraged dance in worship services and religious education. They were long time members of the international Sacred Dance Guild.<\/p><p>Skyloom presented dances and led workshops nationally and abroad in many different venues from England to Hawaii\u00a0 including a prison and a monastery.\u00a0<\/p><p>Skyloom members wove their own choreographies drawing on many sources including Biblical tradition, Native American spirituality, and traditions and social concerns from around the world. They recreated Shaker dances, and built community through sacred circle dance that is based in folk dance.\u00a0<\/p><p>The name Skyloom is taken from the Tewa pueblo prayer-poem <em>The Song of the Skyloom.<\/em><\/p><p>Following is a selection of dances from their archive of over 100 dances that were recorded on videotapes or DVDs over their 30-year existence.
